While the blog deals specifically with Lake Kinneret, it presents an example of a problem that is common to environmentalists throughout the world.  Many ecological studies are sponsored by bodies aiming to receive government approval for projects that impact the environment. Consequently, reports on these matters lack objectivity. The public may remain ignorant of damage to their environment until it is obvious but irreversible
